Prior to founding Nüora Global Advisors, Joanna Chiu served as lead research consultant and author of a 100-page report for PEN America examining China’s social media landscape and the regulatory environment shaping digital platforms.
Through hard-to-access interviews with current and former employees of Chinese social media companies, Joanna sourced nuanced insights into how these businesses operate from the inside, navigate regulatory requirements, and balance compliance with user expectations for relevant information and content. Working closely with PEN America’s Research Director and senior team, she contributed to the report’s research, writing, development and production.
